'We'll deserve it if we go down...smash and grab': Portsmouth and Sheffield United faithfuls have say on Championship clash
Pompey and Sheffield United fans had plenty to say, after Saturday’s clash at Fratton Park. Here’s a selection of views from X, formerly Twitter.
Today showed the lack of quality in depth at #Pompey - compounded by Alese news - can’t continuously gamble in the market - you will lose more than you win. Mous got it wrong today too, Adams into the 10 took away the athleticism in midfield. Too many square pegs in round holes. @_JLWilson
People saying we didn’t deserve to lose….We did! I can’t fault the effort, but the quality isn’t there, squad depth isn’t there, we switch off at crucial times. More injuries today, poor subs from Mous, no investment from Eisners. If we go down we’ll more than deserve it #pompey @LukeEllisPUP
God help us if Ebou Adams gets injured/suspended #Pompey @SonStats
A smash and grab win for the Blades today. Andre Brooks’ 90th-minute goal was enough for all three points, despite Pompey hitting the post soon after. Steel City Derby awaits, a win on Sunday would confirm Sheffield Wednesday’s relegation. @OwenEAllen
Not the best game Portsmouth probably the better of the two hopefully we come out and start to play and create some chances up the blades #sufc #twitterblades #awaydays #championship @pjobuchanan
Great day out at Pompey and cannot beat a last-minute winner! Not at our best but winning ugly is a great habit! Subs 2nd half made us better and a good goal to win it! Plenty of minutes in legs for Phillips and the derby next weekend to look forward to! #Twitterblades @GodberMick
Genuinely lots of the season to go, if we were in Oxford’s position now I’d honestly be panicking more, I’ve seen enough about us to climb to safety #pompey @PORTSMOUTHFCLEE
Pompey are going to get relegated
The budget #Pompey have, your options are league 1 or foreign players that you have to gamble can make it in the Championship. Or injury prone players - clubs have given up on, or are willing to loan you. Over 35 different players used this season, tells you how gamble is going. @mjpartridge1
35 shots and 25 corners across the last two games. 0 goals. #Pompey are going to get relegated due to a serious lack of cutting edge. Bishop’s goalscoring form is of course not good enough, but this is a whole team issue, not a one man problem. @Thomas_2791
A tale as old as time. If you don’t cash in on pressure and chances , there is usually a price to pay. Recurring theme for Pompey, who failed to capitalise on total dominance over a very ordinary Sheff Utd and lost to a 90th minute sucker punch. @IanDarke
