Do you agree with how Blues writer Jordan Cross saw it in the dress rehearsal for the Championship curtain-raiser at Oxford United?

Pompey’s standout once again. Took on the armband and stepped up with typical threat from deliveries and angled shots, matched with his work-rate against the ball. Looked most likely danger along with Adrian Segecic's second-half display. Another big season lies ahead. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

Little dynamo put himself about and pressed with intensity throughout. Kept grinding and crafted opening for Josh Murphy after restart, before delighting Fratton End with one drive at goal. The Aussie’s style of play looks set to go down well with Fratton Faithful. Photo: Simon Roe

Spurned Pompey’s best chance of the first half but upped threat after the break. Heartening to see Lang leading the press with the need for the attacker to be firing on all cylinders for Oxford United obvious. | Getty Images

Up and running with deft late winner as striker filled the void created by Colby Bishop’s absence. Learning what’s required as he leads the press from the front and was a thankless task in the first half at time. Still showed a couple of nice touches, though, and looked to sniff out a chance until the death with some decent late moments - goal was his reward in dying embers of game. | The News
