‘Fair play to them...proper fanbase...right noise at The Den’: Mutual respect between Millwall and Portsmouth
Pompey and Millwall fans had plenty to say after their sides collided in the Championship at The Den. Here’s a selection of views on X, formerly Twitter.
Amazes me how Portsmouth and Southampton can be so close and literally the same people yet Pompey support is 10 times better than them, how does that make sense? @Mitch67958857
As much as I hate Portsmouth, credit to them — they took six points off us, and their away support was extraordinary. Proper fanbase. The only winner in the Millwall team is Max Crocombe. #Pompey #Millwall @kisyrpk
Pompey supporters making Millwall feel like a home game. Incredible scenes.@AwayDaysClub_
Say what you want about @MillwallFC, had lunch in the Millwall cafe spoke to loads off camera friendly welcoming #pompey give you the best away day & the stewards were quite simply brilliant managed to get to coach great interview with Marlon vlog be up when we get home. @GaryandNolan
Fair play to Pompey, was some away end
Tell you what. Fair play to Pompey, done a good job & was some away end. I hope they stay up. If we don’t go up that’s another 2 good games home & away next season #pompey #millwall @TedDavies7
Some right old noise at the New Den, two sets of proper fans, none of your plastic tourists with their phones out #Pompey #Millwall @Pompeyalbie
Fair play to Portsmouth, deserved their win. Managed the game well. Comfortably staying up #millwall #Pompey @SamHalliday20
I like #Pompey. Always have a lot of fans, they’re very loud, they get behind the team. Their players turned up, brought the fight & they all got the great celebration at the end. They’re also all the reasons I love supporting #Millwall but today we didn’t turn up & I’m jealous! @VictoriaA_27
I’m all here for this John Swift turnaround. Got the fight back in him. #Pompey @Dann_PFC
I honestly think Ebou Adams could go down as our best signing in 10+ years (in terms of having an influence on us as a team) The way he has hit the ground running and made us a very competitive side. The difference before him and now is frightening. Like a new side #Pompey @ryanlewis79
Pompey playing like a top-six team at moment. Magnificent display at Millwall. Pace on both wings with January arrivals. Good silk-steel midfield blend , solid centre backs, vastly improved full backs. Murphy and Shaughnessy will not walk back in. @IanDarke
