The Blues moved to bring in seven new faces, before the cut-off point for trading at 7pm on February 2.
In addition to those signings there was a host of other names to surface from across Europe as Pompey cast their net wide for their additions.
Some of those players certainly had credence when it came to talk of a move, with others, well, less so...
We’ve tracked down all of the players linked with Pompey in the winter window, explored where they are now and their looked at their fortunes over the past couple of months.
5. Jahnoah Markelo
The FC Zurich man was on Pompey's winger hit-list, but they were never realistically in the running for the Surinam international - underlined by his £4.3m move to Championship leaders Coventry. Three outings off the bench so far for the Sky Blues. | CameraSport - Andrew Kearns

6. Millenic Alli
Made his move to Fratton Park and hit the ground running after Luton Town loan - form has tailed off, however, across 14 appearances to date. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

7. Andrew Moran
Wasn't any real substance in early January links with Pompey. Moved from Brighton from Preston, with two sub and two starting appearances so far. | CameraSport - Richard Martin-Roberts

8. Andre Luiz
Brazilian winger oddly surfaced alongside Pompey's name with the likes of Sunderland and Norwich City also linked. Again, nonsense given the £5.8m fee he joined Greek side Olympiacos for. | AFP via Getty Images
