‘Very soon’: Portsmouth loanee drops big hint about future after £1.5m man’s Luton Town return
The Pompey loan winger talks about his future after his Republic of Ireland breakthrough.
Millenic Alli is anticipating his Luton Town future will be quickly resolved.
And the Pompey loanee has outlined his desire to play at the highest level possible, as he gets set to return to his League One parent club after his Fratton Park stay.
Millenic Alli on his future: ‘We will see very soon’
Alli’s destiny is firmly in the balance this summer, after a stay at PO4 across the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.
The 26 -year-old hit the ground running amid a series of impressive displays, before his form dipped amid a gruelling run of 15 starts on the spin.
Pompey boss John Mousinho stated he would like to sign the winger on a permanent basis in February.
It remains to be seen what will happen after the £1.5m signing’s return to his club, where he will report for pre-season training next month.
Alli hinted at a resolution to his future coming soon, however, with his preference to test himself with the best standard of football open to him.
When asked about his future, he told the Daily Mirror: ‘We will see very soon.
‘We all want to play at the best place possible and the highest place possible, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.’
Alli enjoyed successful maiden international minutes with Republic of Ireland last week, bagging in a 2-0 win against Real Murcia B and then providing an assist for Jack Moylan in his country’s 5-0 success against Grenada on Saturday.
The winger’s international breakthrough is quite the success story for a player who has stepped up the English football pyramid from the seventh tier.
Alli added: ‘It feels like you're a million miles away from it (non-league football), but it's just about just waiting for your time and just keep working hard for your time to come.
‘Obviously, it's always the dream and you just have to keep knocking away and just keep working.
‘Hopefully, the hard work pays off and it's paid off to a certain extent, so I'm very grateful.
‘You always have to believe in yourself and just give all glory to God with all the blessings and all the opportunities.
‘So, as the years went by I had more opportunities and I took them as much as I could. And here we are today.
‘There's a lot of very good Irish players that are in my position as well, so I can only just keep working hard and doing well at club level.
‘Hopefully the manager selects me and I play to the standard that he's looking for.’
