Portsmouth captain addresses full-time boos as Blues drop into Championship relegation zone
Pompey dropped into the relegation zone following a 1-0 defeat to Bristol City on Saturday.
Marlon Pack has responded to the full-time boos which rang around Fratton Park following their 1-0 defeat to Bristol City.
And the Blues skipper is adamant its ‘not panic stations’ just yet after John Mousinho’s men dropped into the relegation zone for the first time this season.
Boos rang around PO4 at the full-time whistle as the Blues suffered their sixth defeat in eight Championship matches. Following victories for Oxford United on Friday and Sheffield United on Saturday lunchtime, Mousinho’s men end the day in the relegation zone.
Pompey captain responds to Fratton boos
And the Blues captain has sent a clear message after another disappointing afternoon at PO4.
He told The News: ‘The fans have the right to voice whatever opinion.
‘They pay the money, they follow us up and down the country, the numbers that came on Wednesday were outstanding. They got behind the boys today.
‘They voiced their opinion at the end because they are disappointed but we are in that dressing room. This group of lads are desperate to be successful at this football club.
‘I think we’ve shown enough this year at times but it’s just probably doing it more on a consistent basis, which is something we need to be better at as a group.
‘We need to pick up results, we need to be better so it’s probably a bit of both to be honest.
‘I don’t think it’s panic stations just yet but it’s something we need to address and be better. The group of players know that.
‘We are working really hard but sometimes we are a bit naive, we need to be a bit stronger in moments, stand up and lead.’
Pompey’s Championship frustrations
Despite picking up a much-needed victory against Millwall last week, Pompey have been unable to follow up the triumph with defeats against Sheffield United and Bristol City.
And Pack is voiced his frustration after the Blues were only able to pick up three points from a possible nine available in the three-game week.
‘Especially with two home games in a week, I think we back ourselves at home to make it tough for anyone.
‘After the disappointment of Wednesday, if you come away with a win today it’s six points in a three game week, two home games, it’s the minimum we wanted really so very, very disappointing.
‘It’s a very dejected dressing room and we need to pick ourselves up, lick the wounds and focus on going to Charlton ahead of another three game week and hopefully pick up a positive return in results.’
