And the man known as Marezi has told how his family quickly embracing life in Portsmouth has made it a smooth transition to living in England.

Milovanović became the summer’s big transfer story, with the Blues splashing out £3.2m to bring in the striker from UD Almeria.

That’s the most Pompey have spent on a player since their days in the Premier League, with excitement around the powerful operator’s potential.

The early signs have been promising, with Milovanović bagging two goals today and delivering a standout performance against Cardiff City on Saturday.

The 23-year-old told how he’s been playing fitness catch-up so far at Pompey, but now is almost at full capacity - a worrying statement for rival defences.

‘I was waiting almost two months to come here, to be honest.

‘I didn’t do pre-season with my other club and I was waiting. It was always “next week, next week” (for the move to be completed). But now I’m getting fitter and everything is good.’

Milovanović is now settling into his new home with his young family, as he adjusts to his new surroundings.

The former Partizan Belgrade man explained it’s been an extremely smooth transition so far, with PO4 always his preferred destination this summer.

Milovanović added: ‘From the first day I wanted to be here, but this is not my thing to negotiate.

‘But from the first day I said this is where I wanted to be - and now I’m here.

‘Now I’m scoring goals and we are enjoying life here.

‘It’s amazing. I didn’t expect everything to be so good, but everything is amazing.

‘We’ve always wanted to live in England in a city like Portsmouth. It almost feels too good to be real! For my family it’s been brilliant and for football so far it’s very good.’
