The Blues boss ranks the current injury and unavailability the worst he’s know in his time at Fratton Park, with a huge swathe of key players sidelined.
Mousinho faces a test to put out a competitive side against Kieran McKenna’s men, with Conor Chaplin also unavailable as part of the terms of his Pompey loan.
Here’s how we think the Pompey boss will go, as he takes on the huge challenge of bouncing back from the New Year’s Day mauling at Bristol City.
17. Sub 5: Ashton Sizer
Will need to be some academy youngsters involved given the injury issues, with Sizer already being around the senior group this season. Photo: Jason Brown
18. Sub 6: Luke Le Roux
Looked well off it at Bristol City with question marks over Le Roux's involvement moving forward. Photo: Simon Roe
19. Sub 7: Fraser Thomas
No Chaplin as part of the terms of his Pompey loan stay and Matthews picking up a New Year's Day injury. That potentially means two new faces in the squad, with Thomas an academy hopeful who showed promise in pre-season. Photo: Jason Brown
20. Sub 8: Franco Umeh
Had his first minutes late on against Charlton but other attacking options look to be ahead of the £500,000 signing at present. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
