Portsmouth boss delivers good and bad injury news ahead of Norwich City encounter

Pompey injury latest ahead of Saturday’s trip to Norwich City.

Tyrese Shade is expected to boost Pompey’s numbers against Norwich City on Saturday.

But the Blues are still yet to discover the extent of Keshi Anderson’s hamstring injury after he was withdrawn against Sheffield United in midweek.

John Mousinho’s troops continue their hectic schedule with a trip to Carrow Road this weekend, looking to put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

The head coach was forced to name two goalkeepers on his bench against the Blades on Wednesday after an admin error which initially saw Shade named in the 20-man squad.

Shade, who failed a late fitness test ahead of the 3-2 success over Sheffield United, will, however, be back in contention this weekend and boosts the Blues’ depleted numbers ahead of the trip to Carrow Road.

And Mousinho revealed the £2m attacker has trained as he eyes an instant return to the squad.

The head coach said in his pre-match press conference: ‘Should be fine, he trained today (Thursday). As long as he settles down okay tomorrow, he should be fine for Saturday.’

Meanwhile, Anderson was withdrawn just 19 minutes after his second-half introduction when he went down off the ball and was later replaced by Odin Bailey in the closing stages.

The winger, who made just his second appearance of the season, missed pre-season as well as the opening weeks of the campaign after tearing his quad during the Blues’ summer training camp in Ireland.

Mousinho expressed his disappointment after Wednesday’s triumph over the 31-year-old, who has been limited to just nine outings since his January arrival as injuries continue to hamper his Fratton stay.

After sustaining two hamstring issues during the second half of last term, a fresh hamstring problem will once again keep Anderson sidelined, although the head coach is still yet to discover the extent of the attacker’s latest setback.

‘Keshi’s a hamstring, we don’t know the extent of it.

He’s gutted, we’re gutted. Keshi, you’ve seen in the last two games the influence he’s had and how good of a player he is.

‘Unfortunately we haven’t been able to keep him fit, so we’ll see what the extent of that is as it settles down. Hopefully it’s not too bad and we can go from there.
