'Isn't Championship ready. A player in there somewhere': Clear Portsmouth verdict over future of £500,000 signing

Harvey Blair is entering the final 12 months of his three-year Pompey contract.

Pompey fans on social media have been discussing Harvey Blair’s Fratton Park future.

The winger has had an injury-hit two-year stay on the south coast following his £500,000 arrival from Liverpool in August 2024.

Having featured just 12 times for the Blues in his maiden campaign, hamstring, hip-flexor and calf issues restricted the forward to just 16 outings at PO4 this term.

The 22-year-old has netted just one goal and collected one assist during his time at Fratton Park, with his future very much under the spotlight with the head coach looking to bolster his arsenal this summer.

And the Fratton faithful believe a loan exit in the forthcoming transfer window would be a sensible option to aid the young talent’s progress as he continues to find his mark.

We put the question: Should Pompey stick or twist with Harvey Blair this summer? On Facebook and the reaction from supporters was clear.

Tom Cross: Loan needed. Mid-top of league 1. Somewhere like Reading, Peterborough or Plymouth would be ideal.

Jim Foster: Loan him out. There’s a player in there somewhere but he needs a run of games.

Martin Paine: He isn't Championship ready. Maybe he will be one day, but needs a loan spell to show that.

Roy Alan Mansfield: Thank you but no thank you. The lad needs to work on his game with a league 2 side… pace but missing the rest!

Joshua Norris: Two things need to happen. 1) we NEED a reserve team!!! 2) Blair needs a loan to league one. The lad is improving. The issue with him is that we cannot give him regular game time at the moment. He needs competitive minutes so he can keep improving.

Andy Emberson: Got something about him, definitely worth keeping him.

James Lewis: It’s a shame cause he clearly has potential but he’s clearly not up to playing this level without getting injured every 5 minutes.

Shane Knight: Put him on loan, needs more match time.

Joel Hawkins: Definitely loan him to a League One team that have a chance of going up. He's so low on confidence. His performance against Stoke was the best he's played.

Jody White: Shows flashes of it, needs a year in League One on loan for sure.

Paul Lennard: Loan him out to someone in L1… if he has a year where he’s fit all season then bring him back… type of player than needs a run. Williams got back in and took his chance.. quality player after the Boro game.

Stephen Dore: I would like to see him loaned out , definitely not ready for Championship football.
