Portsmouth rivals hold talks over sensational return for £33m man as Premier League clubs eye £15m Watford raid

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

There are less than two weeks to go until the transfer window gets underway and Pompey will be looking to strengthen their ranks in the coming months.

John Mousinho is adamant it will be a busy summer on the south coast as he looks to prime his squad for the Blues’ third-successive Championship campaign.

Ten names have so far been linked with a move to PO4 prior to the market’s opening, with Rangers midfielder Calum Adamson the latest to be touted with a switch.

A host of Premier League and Championship clubs - including Pompey - are keeping tabs on the highly-rated 18-year-old, who is entering the final 12 months of his Ibrox terms.

There’s plenty of transfer gossip and speculation mounting across the Championship as clubs finalise their preparations for the upcoming window.

Here are the latest headlines involving Poompey’s second-tier rivals.

Wolves want striker reunion

Following a disastrous Premier League campaign, Wolves are bracing themselves for a first Championship campaign since 2019.

But their recruitment drive doesn’t appear to be stopping there, though, with a sensational return for Raul Jimenez touted.

That’s according to our sister paper, the Express and Star, who have revealed talks have taken place regarding a potential free transfer for the 35-year-old this summer.

The Mexico international is set to become a free agent later this month with Fulham and is expected to bring a brilliant three-year stay at Craven Cottage to a close.

And a possible Molineux move has been discussed, with Edwards reportedly targeting the frontman as a potential transfer target.

After a successful loan stint in Wolves’ Championship promotion-winning campaign in 2019, Jimenez completed a £33m move from Benfica that summer.

During his outstanding stay in the West Midlands the ex-Athletic Madrid star netted 57 goals in 166 outings before his £5m exit in 2023.

Pompey will make their first trip to Molineux since October 2009 when the two sides face each other next term.

Watford are facing a huge battle to keep hold of midfielder Imran Louza, according to reports.

Africa Foot have suggested the Morocco international will depart Vicarage Road this summer, with interest from the Premier League growing.

The article states Everton, Fulham and Brighton all have the talented 27-year-old in their sights after another outstanding Championship campaign.

It has been claimed the Toffees have even made contact with the Hornets over a potential deal, with Pompey’s second-tier rivals valuing the playmaker at £15m.

The former Nantes man, who has spent five years at Vicarage Road, caught the eye with a number of impressive displays, which saw him net seven goals and provide nine assists in 42 league outings. That also included a strike against Mousinho’s troops during a 2-2 draw at Fratton Park in October.

Louza currently has two-years to run on his current Watford terms and spoke in November 2025 of his desire to depart either in January or during the summer.
