Derby County closing in on £350,000 swoop ahead of Portsmouth contest as Championship trio eye Wrexham man
The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey and their Championship rivals.
There are just over two weeks to go until the January transfer window opens for business - and it’s expected to be busy on the south coast.
The Blues will no doubt be looking to strengthen next month ahead of a vitally-important second half of the season after a tough start to their Championship campaign.
John Mousinho has admitted he will be hoping to add 3-6 new faces in the market, while departures are expected to accommodate any potential arrivals.
Elsewhere, there is plenty of gossip and speculation doing the rounds across the Championship, with the clock ticking down to the January 1 opening.
Here are the latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s second-tier rivals.
Derby deal for Dion Sanderson
Derby County have started their transfer business early, according to reports.
Transfer guru Alan Nixon has claimed the Rams are closing in on a deal in principle with Birmingham City to secure defender Dion Sanderson on a permanent basis.
The article has suggested the 26-year-old, who is currently on loan at Pride Park, will make a £350,000 move during the January window.
It has been reported that other clubs are also monitoring his situation, although he is keen to remain with the Rams.
Sanderson, who has been signed by John Eustace at QPR, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and at Derby County already in his career, has been an ever-present at Pride Park this term, featuring 22 times in the opening four months.
Man United man amassing interest
Young Manchester United talent Harry Amass is growing a list of admirers in the Championship after an impressive loan stay at Sheffield Wednesday.
The 18-year-old made the move to Hillsborough on a short-term loan deal in the summer and has been a regular fixture in Henrik Pedersen’s side.
This has seen the left-back feature 16 times in the Championship this term for the Owls, which included a start against Pompey in September.
But with his terms at Hillsborough set to come to a close in January, the Steel City outfit are facing a battle to keep Amass for the remainder of the campaign.
The Daily Mail have claimed Millwall and Stoke City have both registered interest in the Old Trafford youth product, although a number of unnamed clubs are also reportedly keen.
The young full-back was named the Owls’ Player of the Month for November and is set to enter the final 18 months of his current deal with Manchester United.
Preston push for Hardie

Preston North End are the latest club who are said to be keen on Ryan Hardie.
Football League World have claimed the 28-year-old is on Paul Heckingbottom’s radar ahead of the January window as he looks to strengthen his forward line.
The Lilywhites are believed to be in the race to secure the Wrexham striker’s signature alongside Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.
Hardie made the move to the Racecourse Ground in the summer, with the Red Dragons triggering his £700,000 release clause with Plymouth Argyle.
But following the arrivals of Josh Windass, Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead later in the window, the Scotland international’s game time has been limited, which has seen him score just one goal in all competitions.
Now, just months after his arrival in north Wales, the forward has been tipped with a shock exit next month, with a host of Pompey’s rivals reportedly eyeing a swoop.
