Portsmouth rivals eyeing swoop for in-demand League One ace as Birmingham City battle to keep £1.7m signing

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey's Championship rivals.

There are less than three weeks to go until the transfer window opens for business and it’s shaping up to be busy at Fratton Park.

So far, eight names have been touted with a switch to the south coast. While many have already been rubbished by The News, names including Aribim Pepple, Luke Graham and Svante Ingelsson are on the Blues’ shopping list this summer.

John Mousinho’s men now also know who they’ll be competing with in the Championship next term, with West Ham and Bolton Wanderers booking their spot in the division over the weekend.

With anticipation growing ahead of the new season, gossip and speculation is growing ahead of the summer window involving Pompey’s rivals.

Here are the latest transfer headlines from across the division.

Championship trio chase League One talent

A trio of Pompey’s rivals are reportedly chasing Stockport County striker Adama Sidibeh.

That’s according to Football League World, who have claimed Swansea City, QPR and managerless Bristol City all have the frontman on their radar.

The report suggests the three Championship sides have identified the 21-year-old as a top target after an outstanding run-in with Stockport.

Sidibeh’s stock has seen a sharp increase during the second half of the campaign, with his impressive displays a catalyst behind Stockport’s promotion bid.

Following his January switch from St Johnstone, the eight-cap Gambia international netted 10 goals in 25 outings for the Hatters in all competitions.

But his commanding performance during Sunday’s play-off final defeat to Bolton Wanderers has sparked fresh interest in his services from higher up the football pyramid despite having two years to run on his current Edgeley Park contract.

Dave Challinor’s side, of course, fell to a 4-1 defeat at Wembley over the weekend, with Sidibeh withdrawn from the action with his side 2-1 down.

Although Pompey are not one of the Championship outfits credited with an interest in the striker, the Blues have targeted a new number nine during the upcoming transfer window.

Birmingham brace for striker interest

Birmingham City could lose striker Marvin Ducksch this summer, due to a clause inserted into his deal 12-months ago.

The frontman completed the switch from Werder Bremen in August 2025 for an estimated £1.7m penning a two-year deal at St Andrews.

The 32-year-old netted 10 goals in 33 Championship outings for Chris Davies’ side, who finished 10th after a final-day draw with Pompey at Fratton Park.

But a fresh report from Sky Sports Germany has revealed Ducksch could leave the second city in the transfer window because of a clause in his contract.

A non-promotion clause means the two-cap Germany international could be available for 1m euros this summer, with clubs in his native homeland already registering an interest.

Bundesliga outfit Augsburg are said to be trailing the striker alongside second-tier side Hertha Berlin.

Ducksch missed the final five games of the campaign - including the season finale at Fratton Park - after being involved in a three-car crash in April while over the drink-drive limit.
