Portsmouth handed eye-catching maiden London Stadium trip against West Ham in Carabao Cup
The Carabao Cup draw was made this afternoon with Pompey handed an eye-catching draw.
Pompey have been handed an enticing trip to West Ham in the Carabao Cup.
The Blues will enjoy a first-ever visit to the London Stadium on the weekend of August 8, following the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League.
It’s a tantalising early-season prospect for John Mousinho’s men, with the competition preceding the opening to the Championship this year.
It also means visits to take on West Ham will start and end the campaign, with a final-day league trip to the same venue on May 1.
Round one includes the two preliminary round winners plus the other 68 EFL clubs. Tranmere v Rochdale and York v Crawley make up the preliminary round clashes.
The draw is regionalised into northern and southern sections, but clubs are unseeded.
The 11 Premier League clubs not participating in Europe enter in round two, with the nine remaining sides in European competition entering at round three.
