Portsmouth faithful asking same question as Birmingham City signing joins Aston Villa Europa League celebrations
The Birmingham City capture has been with Aston Villa players, after their win over SC Freiburg in the Europa League.
His Pompey duties for the season are now and well and truly over.
But the Fratton Faithful have still been left scratching their heads at January signing Keshi Anderson surfacing with some surprise company this week.
Unlikely scenes as Pompey man joins Villa Europa League celebrations
And the same can certainly be said of the followers of the wingers former employers, Birmingham City, as Anderson joined their fierce rivals Aston Villa in the wake of their European glory.
It, of course, has been a memorable period for Unai Emery’s men, as they collected their first silverware in 30 years on Wednesday night - and their first European trophy in over four decades.
That has led to an extended period of celebrations in the wake of their outstanding 3-0 victory over German outfit SC Freiburg in Istanbul.
But Anderson being among the group of partying players with Villa was an outcome not too many Pompey fans would’ve had on their bingo card of closed season events.
Eagle-eyed supporters picked out the 31-year-old on a clip of the players travelling, however, after winning the trophy.
The 37-second video shows the Villa players being cheered with keeper Emiliano Martinez carrying the trophy, before Anderson saunters into the shot behind the Argentina international.
Anderson is believed to be an Aston Villa fan, while there’s every chance he will be acquainted with Emery’s squad from his time spent in England’s second city.
But there was still surprise over the man who’s made seven Pompey appearances to date being there, though of course there’s absolutely nothing wrong in the fact he was.
And there’s been some interesting reaction and considerations over why the former Crystal Palace man has turned up with Villa players.
‘Villa have bought him off us for £10million,’ claimed @LWalterini1898 in tongue-in-cheek fashion.
‘He’s on a spying mission apparently,’ added @GBadnell81 in a thinly veiled dig at rivals Southampton, after their play-off expulsion.
Unsurprisingly, Birmingham fans took a stronger stance given their rivalry with Villa.
‘Keshi Anderson man celebrating with Villa after everything? Proper gone in my eyes,’ said @zerobarkthirty.
‘Can’t believe the bloke used to be my favourite player,’ added @lomas_came39791.
