‘Story of our season. Such a worry’: Portsmouth faithful highlight huge concerns after FA Cup defeat to Arsenal

Pompey fell to a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Pompey fans on social media have hughlighted two huge concerns following the Blues’ 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side came back and turned the contest around before the break, with an Andre Dozzell own goal and Gabriel Martinelli putting the Gunners ahead.

The Brazilian would go on to grab his hat trick after the break, with Pompey eventually falling to defeat despite putting in a valiant effort.

And while the Fratton faithful were proud of the Blues’ showing, injuries and set piece woes once again proving a problem.

That is something Pompey fans on social media have drawn criticism too as they bowed out of this season’s FA Cup.

Here’s the best of the reaction from X.

Pompey fans after Arsenal defeat

@RHYSHG2: Great spirit and positives to take, but to get caught out by the same set piece routine three times is beyond appalling.

@1999BDC: Undone by three corners and a quick free kick story of our season a great performance considering who we played and the score doesn’t particularly represent the effort in the performance although we now have no fit wingers MR EISNER hand in pocket please.

@DDeane41: Not a bad performance if it wasn’t for identical set piece goals Atmosphere was great

@Willfrattonpark: 2 things of concern: yet more injuries and still no improvement in defending set pieces. Good effort from the lads though seriously need reinforcements now of people who will make an immediate impact.

@Pompeynat1988: Did well today, need to be so much better at set pieces though. Our downfall once again. Otherwise held our own.

@Willmott3Sam: Take the set pieces out and it’s a very good performance that should give the players the pride to go and kick on in the league. Injury’s are such a worry now, even more players need to be brought in.

@Ryanpompe: We gave it a good go but they were too good. We have bigger fish to fry now.

@Rich03832303: Not a bad effort at all more worried about the injuries to Blair, Umeh and Bishop!!!

@CupChange: Really proud of Pompey today. Put in a great shift. No disgrace losing to the Premier League leaders.

@ParryMacdonald: Thought we gave a good account of ourselves today. One of the most pathetic refereeing displays I’ve seen down here in a while. This is a full on injury crisis.

@RichieHolland24: Imagine if we could defend set pieces.

@JoePaice92: Serious note… we played very well considering the team we had available. Had Arsenal absolutely rattled. Wasting time at 3-1 down and being on the ropes was hilarious. On a more serious note we seriously need to defend these set pieces better it’s getting beyond a joke now.
