Pompey boss John Mousinho has shaken up his side for today’s game v Millwall at Fratton Park
Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to John Mousinho’s starting XI for today’s Championship game against Millwall at Fratton Park.
With the Blues on a run of six games without a win, the head coach has made five changes to the side that lost 3-2 to Hull City prior to the internationa break.
Out go Josef Bursik, Jordan Williams, Conor Chaplin, Ibane Bowatt and Luke Le Roux, with the latter two not even included on the bench. And in come Nicolas Schmid, Zak Swanson, Florian Bianchini, Adrian Segecic and Mark Kosznovszky as Mousinho attempts to find a winning formula for what many consider to be a key game.
It’s certainly a side not many would have expected. Yet, the response from supporters haS been mixed as they take stock of Pompey’s latest starting XI.
Here’s what fans have been saying on X since the team sheet was made public at 1.45pm.
Fans’ reaction to Pompey starting XI v Millwall
@SteveoLarham: Got decent options on the bench as well. Strongest team for a while.
@simonwilkin: 2 weeks to solve the problem that we don’t have a left back… the solution is to just not play a left back.
@DanielE64141682: Bianchini redemption arc starts now. It also makes our front 4 balanced square pegs square holes!
Not sure which sides the full backs are playing though.
@dinste1: Don’t like that midfield pair one bit, but Koz has not really had a go in his proper position so we’ll see what happens I suppose.
@HazzaTWood96: Line-up looks ok, though would’ve had Chaplin over Bianchini, great to see Schmid, Segecic and Lang back though. Here’s hoping for a decent Pompey performance, PUP.
@pompeyproud1: I think after a decent break i would have started Pack in this tough midfield battle of a must not lose game
@f1ootballer44: I’ve got a good feeling about today… Bianchini is lowering that feeling though.
@archie_b08: Dropping Bursik is tragic.
@PompeyHazza9: Kosznovsky playing in midfield finally.
@wayneharrispfc: Dozz, Kos and Segs all playing central? If so, that's a worry with Millwall physicality. Big game for Bianchini. So pleased to see Lang as part of a quite decent bench right there. Get it right #Pompey Big one today. Get the win .
@jonozanne: Poor team, pressure game with too much experience sat on the bench.
@TommoOnX: Okay okay, don’t mind that at all.
@Luke_J81: Sticking with Bishop is going to be Mous’ downfall.
