Portsmouth trio spotted training for first time in weeks ahead of Millwall game - in social media post since deleted

Three of Pompey’s previously injured players are back in training - ahead of Saturday’s game against Millwall

Pompey’s social media team provided Blues fans with a welcome boost on Wednesday.

The Fratton faithful have understandably been a bit down in the dumps recently, after just one win in 11 games. That has seen John Mousinho’s side slide down the Championship table, with Pompey 20th in the standings and just four points above the drop zone heading into Saturday’s game against Millwall.

Injuries have played a key role in the slump. Indeed, nine players missed the 3-2 defeat at Hull Cuty due to their continued presence in the treatment room.

However, there’s now evidence that good news is just around the corner.

That’s thanks to some video footage the club put up on their social channels from the Blues’ latest training session.

Pictured among those taking part were Terry Devlin, fresh from him making his international debut for Northern Ireland on Monday night against Luxembourg; Josh Murphy, who returned to injury just before the international break; and a smiling Conor Chaplin, despite his struggles for form since his return on loan from Ipswich.

But what was most pleasing was the sight of three of Pompey’s previously injured stars kitted out to be involved - Nicolas Schmid, Callum Lang and Adrian Segecic.

They’ve been massive misses for the Blues over recent weeks and months with the various injuries they’ve picked up this season. Schmid has been absent with a broken hand since the south-coast derby draw at Southampton in September, Segecic damaged his ankle moments after coming on as a substitute against Stoke in late October, while Lang has sat out 13 matches after he pulled up with a hamstring against Norwich way back on August 16.

Others have filled in admirably in their place, But with Pompey desperate for wins so that they can start climbing the table, their potential availability for Saturday’s game against Millwall and the matches to come comes as a hugh relief.

There was no sign of Harvey Blair or Franco Umeh in the clip we spotted. But that’s not to say neither winger were involved in Wednesday’s training session.

Meanwhile, another interesting figure appeared in the post that has since been taken down. A new left-back maybe? We’ll let you decide!
