Conor Chaplin registered a priceless last-gasp goal as Pompey performed a smash and grab at Middlesbrough.
The Blues manfully defended their penalty area for much of the game, particularly in the second half, to keep the promotion-hunting Boro at bay.
Then, in seven minutes of stoppage time, Marlon Pack’s corner was picked up by Adrian Segecic and his shot deflected off Chaplin into the net for a 1-0 victory.
John Mousinho’s men had set to drop into the relegation zone, instead a late, late win keeps them in 21st spot.
Here are Pompey’s player ratings…

2. Nicolas Schmid - 8
Had his doubters of late and rightly so, but produced some excellent saves to keep Pompey in the game. First half from Browne and then superb finger-tip stop from McGree. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
3. Terry Devlin - 8
Continues to impress, this time with an excellent defensive performance. Boro substituting their left winger Sarmiento at half-time was certainly a compliment. With player of the year season coming, he will be in many fans’ thoughts. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

4. Regan Poole - 8
Colossus at the back and an absolute rock, especially in the second half against consistent Middlesbrough pressure. Loves a fight and boy this was one. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages
