Portsmouth fans on social media add their thoughts to Eisner ownership discussion

Pompey fans have had a lot to say about the Blues’ owners, Tornante, over the past 24 hours.

Monday saw The News publish written statements provided by recognised Pompey supporters’ groups that shared their thoughts on Tornante’s continued ownership of the Blues.

The article itself generated a lot of comment on social media and interest among the Fratton faithful. So to expand on the judgements made, we decided to share some of the opinions that have emerged following the publication of Neil Allen’s story.

Here’s what Pompey fans on X had to say after taking stock of everything the supporters’ group said.

Social media uses have their say of Pompey’s owners Tornante

@PompeyPedro: Really good example of how social media can amplify minority voices. 9/10 of these responses are at worst, apathetic. Only 1 is outright negative (FWIW, I agree with many of the “Coaltion” concerns). The Tornante ownership is not as unpopular as Twitter would make it appear.

@HazzaTWood96: Like I've said Tornante, Michael Eisner and Eric Eisner are good owners in terms of financial stability and giving Fratton Park tlc but in terms of ambition in all aspects of Pompey they could do a lot better in my opinion which I think is fair.

@LostTransport: ‘It's a difficult one as the Eisners are good owners by Pompey standards but the Championship is another beast altogether. I'm surprised they didn't want to get ahead of the curve re infrastructure and income streams.

@deanmaskell: If we lose Mousinho in the summer it will be down to the Eisners. We are at a crossroads. Imagine what Mousinho could do with a mid-table Championship budget rather than a slightly better than League One one. Good article which shows the vast majority want more out of the Eisners.

@Mellono: Supporters have to remember that spending big does not guarantee success. Just look at the squad values of the teams around us like Norwich, WBA and Leicester. I personally think we have bought well but have been incredibly unlucky with injuries to key players.

@DanielE64141682: They are safe owners but I feel they have been incredibly naive with the amount needed in the Championship. I would like to see them bring someone in to audit the club to see how they stack compared to other Champ clubs & give them some truthful feedback.

@fletcherg003: They strike me as they have lost interest in the football club. No communication and the apparent confession that football is too expensive seemingly nails their colours to the mast. Time for them to sell up.

@SBur114: Personally, I am very happy with the Eisners and their ownership. Could they do more? Absolutely, but decisions aren't made in haste and I do think they have a plan.

@LukeEllisPUP: Good article and the points and views made by everyone (including Coalition) are fair. Things have improved, albeit slowly compared to some clubs whose ambition has seen them sky rocket. Majority are all saying to show a bit more ambition now to help us kick on, including Mous.

@Clarkeyboy12345: Think we all kind of agree along the same lines, Eisners have brought stability and progress but it’s now time to massively up the spending on the pitch and also think before they speak with regards to them doing it from scratch.

@pompey81: I think we all as Pompey fans just want to see our club be successful on and off the pitch. I’m content with the progress to date under Tornante but I would like the ownership to show more ambition and aggression in the summer transfer window so the club can really push on.

@ptidlou: The Coalition are the only ones not being brainwashed by the Eisner propaganda machine. Not a single mention of the broken promises by the others. I just hope the owners see this and the opinion we lack funding on the pitch is a view shared between many and pay up or sell up.

@dave448844: Good article and like that you have canvassed wider opinion. Tend to concur with the overall sentiment and for me that is gratitude for the stability and investment to date. However, now time to push on and develop the club on and off the pitch.

@BlueArmyAlex: Only the Coalition seem willing to point out that Michael hasn’t delivered on what was pitched. Disappointing that the Trust didn’t address Eisner’s comment about building the club from scratch. Good to see all groups acknowledge that you have to back Mousinho or watch him walk.
