Portsmouth suffer yet another injury blow as midfielder becomes 9th player ruled out of action
Marlon Pack has not been named in Pompey’s match-day squad for today’s game at Sheffield Wednesday
Pompey have been dealt yet another injury blow.
Fresh from news this week that Franco Umeh will likely be out for the rest of the season and will be joined on the sidelines for 3-4 weeks by Harvey Blair, club captain Marlon Pack has joined the Blues’ list of walking wounded.
That was confirmed on Saturday afternoon, with the 34-year-old not named in John Mousinho’s 19-man match-day squad for the game against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough - despite making the trip to south Yorkshire.
The News understands his absence is definitely because of an injury picked up in training, after Pack came on as a second-half substitute against Arsenal last Sunday.
The midfielder sat out the New Year’s Day defeat at Bristol City because of a hamstring injury sustained in the celebrations that followed Minhyeok Yang’s winner against Charlton on December 29.
He’s one of nine players who will be absent against the Owls because of injury.
Hayden Matthews, Josh Knight, Mark Kosznovszky, Thomas Waddingham, Josh Murphy, Callum Lang, Umeh and Blair remain at home as Mousinho’s side look for a win that will boost their Championship survival chances.
Despite midfield duo Pack and Kosznovszky’s absence, Mousinho has resisted the temptation to through new signing Ebou Adams straight into the starting line-up.
Fellow midfielder Luke Le Roux is also on the bench, with the head coach preferring to play Zak Swanson in the centre of midfield.
