The latest on Portsmouth's eight injured players - and when John Mousinho expects them to return
The Blues’ presently have eight players missing from first-team duty through injury
Pompey presently have eight players sidelined by injuries, with none expected to return before the forthcoming international break.
Here John Mousinho delivers an update on how those occupying the treatment room are faring - and gives likely comeback dates...

Franco Umeh
Sidelined by a hamstring injury sustained in his comeback match against Kuwait SC in a behind-closed-doors training ground friendly on August 5.
It represented the second time in eight months that the former Crystal Palace attack had torn his hamstring at Pompey.
Mousinho said: ‘Franco is okay, we are still looking at around November as a return date. We aren’t rushing that, just because of the severity of the hamstring injuries he’s had in the past.’
Thomas Waddingham
Waddingham sustained ligament damage to his left ankle following a challenge from West Ham’s Ollie Scarles in the Carabao Cup on the opening day of the season.

The Australian had been introduced off the bench, but his spell on pitch lasted just eight minutes before he himself was substituted. He has subsequently undergone an operation.
Mousinho said: ‘Wadds must now be four weeks into a 10-week injury.’
Mark Kosznovszky
Damaged both his ACL and MCL in a knee during the visit of Charlton in December 2025. Kosznovszky had only been on the pitch as a substitute for 20 minutes.

His ACL was subsequently operated on and his recovery timeframe was put at 12 months.
Mousinho said: ‘Kovs is still going to be a January return. Unfortunately, it’s not going to get any quicker.’
Keshi Anderson
Having recovered from the hamstring injury which ended his 2025-26 season prematurely, Anderson then tore his quad during pre-season training in early July.

It happened on the second day of the Blues’ training camp at Fota Island, Cork, putting the left winger out for potentially three months.
Mousinho said: ‘Keshi is about two weeks away from full training.’
Josh Murphy
Underwent a minor groin operation at the end of the April and missed Pompey’s pre-season friendly programme.
Returned last month off the bench against QPR, only to then feel pain in his groin against Lincoln, forcing him off after just 21 minutes on pitch. Murphy has subsequently undergone more groin surgery.

Mousinho said: I think Murph should be back in about six weeks now, so we have every intention of registering him when he’s back.’
Connor Ogilvie
Experienced pain in his knee after returning to pre-season training and underwent an operation at the start of July, ruling him out of the entire friendly programme and early part of the campaign.
Towards the end of August, Ogilvie was still feeling discomfort in his knee and underwent a second operation on his knee.
Mousinho said: ‘Connor is about four weeks away, we expect that to be the case.’
Marko Milovanovic

Mousinho said: ‘There’s nothing major, but he’s probably touch and go for next weekend - we’ll probably leave him out against Blackburn and get him fit for the derby in four weeks’ time.
‘There is an injury there, so we’re not just pulling him out for the sake of it.’
Luke Brooke-Smith
Last week broke his left ankle, fractured a fibula and also suffered ligament damage in what was described as a ‘freak accident’ on the training pitch.

Since John Mousinho spoke about it last Wednesday, there has been no update, although Brooke-Smith was expected to undergo an operation.
