Portsmouth release promising youngster weeks after crowned Academy Player of the Season
The talented goalkeeper has now found himself another club following his Fratton Park exit
Pompey have released their newly-crowned Academy Player of the Season.
Although Oscar Glover has swiftly bounced back from the blow to land himself a deal at non-league Bashley.

Just six weeks ago, the talented goalkeeper was honoured at Pompey’s End of Season Gala Dinner at Fratton Park, where Matt Taylor was guest speaker.
Collecting the Milkwood Care-sponsored Academy award, he joined Terry Devlin, Regan Poole, Hannah Coan and Georgie Freeland in being called onto the stage and recognised at the well-attended event.
However, despite being commended for his Pompey development and commitment to studies, Glover was subsequently released at the end of his second-year scholarship.
Now he has been unveiled by Bashley, who swooped for the 18-year-old having impressed while on loan in the second half of the 2025-26 season.
Glover made his debut for the non-leaguers in a 2-1 defeat against Portishead Town in January, going on to make 18 appearances.
Initially joining on a month’s loan in December, that was extended to the remainder of the campaign just a fortnight later as the youngster established himself as a first-team regular.
Despite the New Forest-based club suffering relegation from Southern League Division One South, Glover’s form impressed, earning him a permanent stay with the New Forest-based club following his Fratton Park exit.
‘Everyone at the club is thrilled to see Oscar make the move permanent’
In a statement, Bashley said: ‘We are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Oscar Glover from Portsmouth FC.

‘Oscar is well known to The Bash having consistently performed for us during last season.
‘Everyone at the club is thrilled to see Oscar make the move permanent and we look forward to watching him perform this coming season.’
Pompey have yet to announce details on which members of their under-18s squad - if any - have earned first-year professional terms at the end of their two-year scholarship.
In the absence of a development squad, last season Harry Clout was the only graduate retained, being handed a 12-month deal with John Mousinho’s team.
However, he was subsequently released last month after struggling for games during disappointing loans at Farnborough, Welling and the Hawks,
Former West Ham youngster departs
In addition to Glover, another of last season’s under-18s squad to depart is former West Ham youngster Ciaran Martin.
The versatile left-footed defender, who caught the eye during two successful loans at Moneyfields in recent years, has joined Uxbridge.
Martin impressed with the Southern League Premier South club after joining on loan in March, helping them finish ninth, one place above the Hawks.
Both Glover and Martin, who were taken on as scholars in the summer of 2024, were in the Academy side which lost 5-2 at Newcastle in the FA Youth Cup in December 2025.
