Gaffer For A Day: Leicester City didn't turn up and didn't want it - Portsmouth definitely did
Gaffer For A Day, Stephen Johnson, aged 45 from Copnor, analyses Pompey’s 1-0 win over Leicester City...
So are you now confident Pompey will be safe?
Get a point at Coventry and I don’t think it matters after that - we’ll be safe.

Since QPR, it has been amazing, I never thought that was possible. If you had told me we were going to beat Middlesbrough and Ipswich, I would say no chance.
Coventry will want the points to win the Championship, but we also need to get something. We’re not far from safety now.
What’s your assessment of the game?
Leicester didn’t turn up and we played better. We actually played really well and, although it wasn’t a great game, at least we won.
We played like we wanted to win, while Leicester didn’t seem to care. Pompey wanted it more and we definitely deserved it.
Who was your man of the match?
Nico Schmid pulled off some amazing saves. He didn’t let any shots in and made loads of stops, he has to be man of the match.
The best was the one where he came out of the box in the second half after a poor backpass from Regan Poole and put in that great tackle.
He’s a really good player and is looking good for Pompey again.
What do you make of the job John Mousinho continues to do?
He has done amazing considering it’s his first managerial managerial. To get us into the Championship and then keep us where we are is brilliant.
He’s up there with Harry Redknapp in terms of best Pompey managers, right up there with him. He knows what he’s doing, he knows what players he wants.

I hope no other club comes in for him, I don’t want anyone else to snap him up because he’s ours. He’s done a brilliant job considering he hasn’t had much money
