'Team has no goals in it. Can't score' - Portsmouth fans say same thing after watching defeat against Sheffield United
Pompey slipped to second-straight defeat at the hands of Sheffield United at Fratton Park today
Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to the Blues’ home defeat at the hands of Sheffield United.
Andre Brooks’ solitary effort on 90 minutes stole it for the Blades, who were second best for long periods at Fratton Park as the hosts dominated possession but failed to find the back of the net.
The defeat, coupled with Blackburn Rovers’ win at QPR, sees John Mousinho’s side drop to 21st in the table and just one point above the drop zone.
Here’s how the fans’ reacted after taking stock of a difficult afternoon to take at Fratton Park.
What fans said at final whistle at Fratton Park
@pompeyshaun1986: Says it all about why #Pompey will go down. Losing a game you dominate, have more chances, work the keeper more etc. We'll go down because our team has no goals in it.
@ryanlewis79: Could play for 5 straight days and we don’t score. Alli is our only decent fit forward. Colby is not Championship standard in the slightest. Poor January sending us down.
@richywoo: A lot of fair criticism about our lack of scoring, but some blame for the defense surely? Leaking crappy goals is costing us points still.
@JackDavis10: Recruitment not finding a suitable striker in the same mould as Colby that can challenge and score could well be the defining factor of our season. Can talk about budgets but at no point have they prioritised that position.
@PompeyDurham: 2 weeks running deserved something from the game, got nowt.
@StassSportsNews: Another game we dominate and lose. We can’t score. We just lack quality up top. Blackburn winning is a disaster too. Very disappointed with Mous subs today.
@CameronRestall: Lack of depth, and lack of goals, could really cost us.
@wobbs1962: Oh dear, not getting a striker when we are crying out for one, going to be stressed every game now.
@pompeyproud1: Mousinio completely bottled that. 3 defensive midfielders at home when we needed a result time to go john boy everyone else has made that change we're down if we don't.
