'Recipe for disaster. I don't get in' - Frustrated Portsmouth fans all say same thing following 1-0 defeat to Derby County at Fratton Park

Pompey fans have been kicking off again about the Blues’ lack of goals this season.

Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to the Blues’ defeat to Derby County at Fratton Park.

And there’s one thing that’s really starting to irritate them more than anything as they fear for their Championship lives - the team’s lack of goals.

It’s an issue that has been a hot topic of debate all season long, with Pompey the joint-second lowest goalscorers in the Championship with 36 goals from their 37 games played to date.

Only seven teams in the whole of the EFL have found the back of the net on fewer occasions than John Mousinho’s side this term. Meanwhile, none of the Blues squad are in double figures for the season in terms of goals.

In fact, Adrian Segecic remains top scorer with six, even though his last goal came against Watford back on January 21. In addition, Colby Bishop, who was benched against Derby, has just two Championship goals to his name this term, one of which came from the penalty spot, as he sits behind right-back Terry Devlin (5) for goals scored.

The Blues’ lack of cutting edge up front was once again exposed against Derby. Despite dominating possession, they offered little in attack to really test the Rams’ third choice keeper, Richard O’Donnell.

That leaves them in serious trouble at the wrong end of the Championship table, with Monday night’s Fratton Park defeat their fourth success loss on home soil.

And according to many members of the Fratton faithful, they see no way of escaping relegation trouble this season given Pompey’s clear problems at the top end of the pitch.

Here’s what they’ve been saying as Pompey fired their 13th blank of the Championship season against John Eustace’s promotion-chasers.

Pompey 0-1 Derby - the reaction of Facebook

Mike Lenton: To win a game you have to score and we never look like scoring at moment.

Liz Chiddicks: We should have signed a striker in January, even a free one would do better Im’ sure because at least they would want to play to gain a contract.

Nigel Lee: Can’t keep a clean sheet and can’t score goals. Recipe for disaster.

Chris Adams: We are great at negatively keeping the ball - side to side and then back - we have lost all cutting edge and thrust - we now look incredibly nervous when we go into the opposing half - this is a manager’s role to sort.

Andrew Hussey: Just can’t score can we Mous? Last night there were some terrific crosses just no one on the end of them.

Kevin Habershon: What we are lacking is a good centre forward which was clear last night.… Derby are a mid-table team but have a decent centre forward in Agemang.

Marcus Dovahkiin Deakins: That's what happens when you get your strikers from Poundland.

Ian Staples: The shooting and crossing is absolute tripe. And why keep passing back to our goalkeeper? I thought you should be running and passing forwards.

Not good enough. Keep attacking and shooting on target.

Chuck Morris: That’s the problem… and 36 goals in 37 games…. But we are doing alright apparently.

What fans have been saying on X

@ODJchef: Genuinely don’t believe we will score again this season. It’s league one attackers vs championship defenders. Explains the lack of goals.

I’ve accepted our fate. Just try to enjoy what time we have left In this league. this is the highest we will reach under the Eisners.

@PompeyFlag: What’s that now, 100 odd corners that we have not created a chance or scored from? Quality costs money, that's just the way it is. As for giving a player enough space to take a touch before shooting, That's criminal at any level let alone in the champ. Deep deep trouble. Toothless.

@Joe_Bailey3: Could be playing for another week and we wouldn’t score.. it’s from no lack of effort but we just don’t have any quality at the top end of the pitch.

Whether it’s lack of investment in players or just poor recruitment I don’t know, either way we’re just not good enough.

@jahampson: In the last four home games, which have all been defeats, we had the most possession in each game, had 80 shots in total, 26 on target and 1 goal.

We needed goal scorers desperately in January. Everyone could see it apart from those in charge.

Now we’ll likely be in League 1.

@Tills1973: Never seen a Pompey team with as little cutting edge as we have currently, so soft in attack, could play for hours and not get close.

Manager has no idea who to play where. Bishop, Brown, Swift, Chaplin, Cabellero, Segecic. it's all so poor, he's just taking a punt.

@Mascott44: I genuinely can’t figure out how, after all this time, we still have so little in the final third. I don’t get it. It’s been so long now. Still nothing.

@Willfrattonpark: The inability to score goals is going to be our biggest killer and downfall. Really can’t see anyway other than relegation as we are considering relying on 2 others to be worse than us.
