43 terrific pictures of 2,464 Portsmouth fans staying braved faced amid horror show at Bristol City

More than 2,400 Pompey fans made the New Year’s Day trip to Bristol City.

A good few of that number will have been wishing they hadn’t, though, after witnessing the Blues hammered 5-0 by a dominant Robins side at Ashton Gate.

Many feared the worst when the team-sheet was announced, with eight names absent through injury and head coach John Mousinho having to not only reshuffle his pack but also his formation.

And those concerns were justified at the final whistle, as sorry Pompey headed back down the tunnel after 90 gruelling minutes well beaten and well and truly second best to Gerhard Struber’s side.

To be fair to the travelling Pompey faithful, they lived up to their side of the bargain by demonstrating they can raise their game, no matter the circumstances.

As a result, we salute them with this magnificent fans’ gallery as their and the Blues’ start to the new year got off to the worst of starts.

Safe travels on your way back home!
