20 cracking images of 1,638 Portsmouth fans enjoying eventful trip to Coventry City - despite 5-1 hammering

More than 1,600 Pompey fans made the Tuesday night trip to Coventry City to lend their support to John Mousinho’s side

Pompey fans endured a ‘strange night’ at Coventry City on Tuesday.

After a 5-1 thumping at the hands of the Premier League-bound Sky Blues, many would have forgiven the 1,638 who made the trip to the CBS Arena for being a bit down in the dumps at the full-time whistle.

However, there was still good reason to be cheerful in the away end after news filtered through that the Blues would be remaining in the Championship for another season.

That’s because third-from-bottom Oxford United had lost to Wrexham, which meant John Mousinho’s side had officially done enough to stay in the second tier with two games of the season left to play.

No doubt the celebrations that took place in the visitors’ section at Coventry would have proven slightly confusing for some onlookers, given the nature of the Blues’ display and the festivities that were taking place in the home end after Frank Lampard’s side were crowned Championship winners.

Regardless, it still proved a night to remember - and we were there to capture those emotions as events unfolded.

See if you can spot yourself or someone who know among the 1,638 Pompey supporters who made the midweek trip up to Coventry.
