Portsmouth announce appointment of new chief financial officer

Pompey have appointed their new chief financial officer.

Pompey have announced the appointment of their new chief financial officer.

The Blues have turned to Wentworth Golf Club’s group finance director Ronan Callaghan to fulfil the crucial role following an extensive recruitment search.

Callaghan, who will officially start next week, replaces Tony Brown at Fratton Park, following his decision to step down after 12 years of service to the club last year.

A former academy player at Brighton and an FA Level One coach, Callaghan said he was proud to be joining Pompey.

‘It is a great honour to take up the position of chief financial officer at Portsmouth Football Club and I am incredibly proud to be entrusted with this responsibility,’ he told the club website.

‘I look forward to working closely with Andrew Cullen (chief executive), the board and my new colleagues across the club to help deliver success off the pitch and continue building a strong, sustainable future for Pompey.

‘This club has a passionate fanbase and a proud history and I am committed to ensuring we operate with financial discipline and transparency – all with the ambition to strengthen performance on the pitch.’

Pompey CEO Cullen added: ‘After an extensive recruitment search, I am delighted to welcome Ronan Callaghan to Pompey as our new CFO.

‘We interviewed several high-quality candidates for the role and Ronan’s passion for finance and football really stood out.

‘He possesses a long and broad experience in finance, so we are thrilled that Ronan has chosen to join us and look forward to welcoming him to the club in March.’
