In the summer of 2025, following survival in the Championship with two matches to spare, the Blues sought to strengthen their playing squad.
Overseen by sporting director Rich Hughes and head of recruitment Brad Wall, Pompey signed 11 players, paying transfer fees for seven of them.
Barely more than 12 months later, only Adrian Segecic can claim to be a first-team regular for John Mousinho.
Here we look at those 11 recruits in the 2025 summer transfer window and what has become of them...

2. Adrian Segecic (48 games, 13 goals)
The first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window and emphatically the best. Recruited from Sydney FC for an undisclosed fee, Segecic scored on his Pompey debut at Oxford United in August 2025 - then also netted on his home debut against Norwich. The attacking midfielder dipped a little during mid-season, but roared back with a stunning end to the campaign, scoring five goals in the final three fixtures, including a dazzling hat-trick at Stoke. Having finished as 11-goal top scorer, Segecic also leads the charts this term with two from eight appearances, having started every match. 3. John Swift (33 games, 3 goals)
Portrayed as a homecoming for the Gosport lad who was once on Pompey’s books before joining Chelsea’s Academy, the move hasn’t quite panned out as planned. Indeed, he has totalled just 24 minutes of first-team action so far this season and wasn’t even included in the 20-man squad against Cardiff earlier this month. Providing plenty of Championship experience, Swift spent a period in an unfamiliar number six role, although he has still started 12 matches as Pompey’s number 10, where his best performances have arrived from. However, he now finds himself well down the pecking order in the final year of his Pompey contract. | Jason Brown

4. Mark Kosznovszky (16 games, 0 goals)
Recruited from HTK Budapest in July 2025 for a £1m fee, the former Hungary Under-21 international remains sidelined with the ACL injury he sustained in December 2025. Up until that point, the midfielder was beginning to find his feet a little after a low-key start and was winning a number of admirers among the Fratton faithful. At the time of his injury as a substitute against Charlton, Kosznovszky had started four of the Blues’ previous eight matches, impressing with his mobility and work-rate. The 24-year-old isn’t expected to return until January 2027 as he continues his recovery from an awful injury.
