Portsmouth fans will love these Fratton Park comments by former rival player

Pundit shares love for Fratton Park in words that Portsmouth fans will love

Sky Sports pundit and former player Don Goodman has opened up on his love for all things Fratton Park in a statement that Portsmouth fans will love.

Pompey have long-term plans to modernise their historic stadium, including increasing its overall capacity.

Among the impending improvements is an investment of over £1.5m to install a new, modern hybrid pitch. This will improve pitch durability and allow Portsmouth's Women's team to join the men at the ground.

Regarding plans to increase capacity, reports from the city council include a blueprint to extend the North Stand, which could raise capacity to between 26,000 and 30,000.

Don Goodman hails Fratton Park amid development plans

Amid the latest goings on with Fratton Park, Goodman was in the mood to reminisce about all of his great experiences of the ground during his professional playing career, which spanned from 1984 to 2003.

"Every time I go to Portsmouth and to Fratton Park I love it. It's a traditional brilliant football ground. The supporters actually realise what an important role they play and so they get right behind their team," Goodman, who was speaking with The News via BestOnlineCasino.com, explained.

"Fratton Park is one of my favourite traditional grounds. I’ve been retired from playing for 23 years now, and while there are lots of more modern grounds out there these days, there is just something special about Pompey's ground. It has a real atmosphere and tradition. It's great they are going to be giving it the TLC it deserves."
