Portsmouth chairman's frank seven-word verdict on draw with Shrewsbury most fans will agree with

Michael Eisner admitted Pompey were ‘fortunate’ to pick up a point in their League One opener against Shrewsbury.

It was deemed an unsatisfactory start to the third-tier campaign, with Kenny Jackett’s side struggling to inspire throughout the majority of the 90 minutes.

While the game could have been different had Aaron Pierre been sent off for a foul on John Marquis in the first half, Pompey could hardly bemoan they deserved more than what they got.

And taking to Twitter after the final whistle, that’s sentiment Eisner agreed with.

The Blues chairman wrote: ‘Tough start. Fortunate to get a point. @Pompey.’

Pompey next travel to Brighton in the Carabao Cup second round on Thursday.
