'Can't see us staying up. Holding on by a thread' - Portsmouth fans have their say on 2-2 draw with Oxford United

Andre Dozzell’s timely strike on 87 minutes rescued a point for the hosts, who found themselves trailing with less than 10 minutes remaining following Will Lankshear’s 81st-minute effort.

The U’s striker’s header was one of two goals scored by the visitors in the second half as Brodie Spence cancelled out Keshi Anderon’s ninth-minute opener.

But with Pompey playing the majority of the game with 10 men following Conor Ogilvie’s straight red card in the 17th minute, they will have been delighted with the point secured - especially as it allowed them to climb out of the live Championship table’s bottom three.

But will it be enough to keep them in the division at the end of the season?

Next up for the Blues will be a trip to Middlesbrough. Until then, here’s what fans have been saying on X following the full-time whistle at Fratton Park.

What Pompey fans have been saying since 2-2 draw with Oxford United

@ukSJS: That game was all down to the referee and the red card. Appalling decisions.

@Samalaaarr: We win that game without the sending off, in complete control at that point after scoring.

@PompeyHazza9: Considering both teams below us have to play Sheffield Wednesday can’t see us staying up.

@GeorgeSlatcher: I don’t know what all the happiness and smiles around Fratton park are all about. We’re down after that, Oxford have Wednesday to play and Leicester play them today! This is a devastating result for the club.

@JBrown1898: Don’t know if it is enough, but that really was a must not lose game, ref spoilt it big time though.

@Bradley14316679: Great fight from the boys but that was a must win, think that us down tbh can’t see any way back.

@IndianaDerman: Holding on by a thread. In normal circumstances a draw when down to ten men for most of the game is a good point. But not today. Prediction is both team will be in league one next year and we deserve it.

@kirsty_roxannee: Had to dig deep for that one, players left everything on that pitch, officials could have cost us that game but a point gained from being 2-1 down. Needed to win to stay up but there’s still hope we ain’t been in the relegation zone since Christmas time. Believe.

@BigPhilHooks: Referee has completely ruined that. Never a red card. But what a showing of spirit and fight. Two sides that will probably both be in League 1 next season but it would be very Pompey to pick a bonus win somewhere.

@pompey_sam: Under the circumstances and against 12 men, that was a resilient result.

@ptidlou: That’s us gone. Ref was shocking but this has been in the making ever since the summer window closed. Underfunded under prepared and under ambitious. That’s how we’ll stay all the time these owners are here. Time to sell up.

@jackdavidbaker: Not the 3 points we were after going into the game, but given we were 2-1 down late on, we have to take the positives from this. One of those positives is that we’re still above the dotted line. I know that’s only a small win but we have to take it.
