So many, in fact, that we’ve managed to put together an entire team that could potentially line up for the Blues next season.
And that’s even taking out of the equation Peterborough’s Dan Butler, who has signed a new deal with the Posh, and George Johnston – who has signed for Bolton.
Many more names will surely emerge in the weeks to come, with Danny Cowley needing up to 10 news players following a host of recent exits.
But for now, here’s a starting XI which Pompey fans could be cheering on next season if the rumours prove to be true...

9. Right-wing - Josh Sims
The News understands that former Southampton winger Josh Sims is on Danny Cowley's transfer radar. Enquiries have been made for the talented 24-year-old, who impressed on a season-long loan at Doncaster Rovers last season. And with Sims officially leaving Saints on Friday following the announcement of their retained list, his availability on a free transfer makes him an even more attractive proposition for the Blues head coach. 10. Left-wing - Jack Payne
A player who Danny Cowley has signed before when in charge at Lincoln. Payne's suffered relegation with Swindon, but was one of their star players.. The ex-Huddersfield man has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave the Robins after they went down. Cowley's admitted he still remains in regular contact with Payne. Pompey will be looking for a Ronan Curits replacement if he gets his wish and moves to the Championship. Photo: Gareth Copley

11. Centre-forward - Guy Melamed
Pompey were first credited with interest in the striker in March, along with League One rivals Sunderland and Ipswich. Melamed's enjoyed a decent campaign for St Johnstone, scoring seven times in 23 games. The Israeli's now out of contract and admitted he's flattered by interest in him. The Blues are in need of an additional centre-forward. Could be an option, while Jayden Stockley is a name that keeps cropping up, too, in certain reports. Photo: Andrew Milligan
