Portsmouth fans left 'confused' by John Mousinho starting XI for Sheffield Wednesday

Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to the team named by John Mousinho for today’s game at Sheffield Wednesday.

And there’s one topic that has them scratching their heads - the Blues’ formation!

Mousinho has made three changes to the side that lost to Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup. There’s recalls for Nicolas Schmid and the previously injured Conor Ogilvie, while new signing Millenic Alli is handed an automatic start. Out go Josef Bursik and Luke Le Roux - who are both named on the bench - and Harvey Blair, who picked up an injury in the defeat to the Gunners.

With Marlon Pack also absent, presumably because of an injury, the Blues boss has resisted the temptation to through another new signing straight into action, Ebou Adams, who was signed in time to be included in the match-day squad.

But with Andre Dozzell the only recognised central midfielder in the starting XI, it’s got fans wondering who steps in alongside the former Ipswich man, and whether a change in formation might be on the cards - especially with full-backs Ogilvie, Tery Devlin and Zak Swanson named in the side to take on the Owls.
