Portsmouth announce sixth pre-season fixture as trip to Bristol Rovers pencilled in

Pompey are heading back to the Memorial Ground - two-and-a-half years after their last visit

Pompey have confirmed their latest pre-season opponents.

John Mousinho’s Blues will head to Memorial Stadium on Saturday, July 18, to take on League Two Bristol Rovers.

The friendly will be the first time the two sides have met since the Gas beat Pompey 2-1 on home turf on Boxing Day 2023 thanks to goals from Antony Evans and Luke Thomas. That day, Paddy Lane was on the scoresheet for the visitors, who went on to secure the League One title.

The game is the sixth to be confirmed by Pompey ahead of their return to pre-season training at the end of this week.

It is sandwiched between fixtures against non-league Woking (July 14) and Aldershot (July15) and trips to League One Wycombe (July 25) and Farnborough (July 29).

The Blues end their preparations for the new season when they travel to Germany to take on 2. Bundesliga side Darmstadt on Saturday, August 1.

Bristol Rovers are currently managed by Steve Evans, who guided the club to a 14th-placed finish in League Two last season.

The Gas currently have former Blues players Ellis Harrison and Jack Sparkes on their books. Meanwhile, Pompey-born Tommy Leigh is also on their books, a player Pompey have often been linked with.
