Hartlepool’s Luke Molyneux, Swansea’s Morgan Whittaker and Oxford United’s Alex Gorrin are the latest names to be added to the growing Blues’ list of potential acquisitions in the window.
Yet, there is still the issue of contracts to sort out, with Sean Raggett, Aiden O’Brien and Michael Jacobs’ Fratton Park futures uncertain, while Marcus Harness and Louis Thompson have had their contracts extended.
With names including Matt Butcher, Will Boyle and Aaron Collins also claimed to be on Danny Cowley’s radar, how would the Blues line-up if the rumours were true?
We’ve taken a look at the potential starting XI Pompey could use in the first game of the season should they sign those linked names.
Here’s how they could line-up.

9. CAM: Aaron Collins
After his positioning was compared to Roberto Firmino by Joey Barton, Collins could be the right man to slot in just behind the two strikers in the number 10 role. Last term, the forward netted 21 goals in 50 appearances for the Gas in all competitions, seeing him impress in League Two. Although his deal is set to expire in 2023, we could see the Blues break the bank with no strikers currently on the books at Fratton Park. Photo: Harry Trump

10. ST: Kyle Joseph
Joseph has been one of a number of attackers linked with the Blues this summer already. The Swansea striker flourished at Cheltenham in the first half of the season, scoring four goals in 13 league starts for Michael Duff’s side, while amassing 10 outings in the Championship for the Swans in the second half of last term. The versatile forward can make runs as well as being a target man so would prove some threat in the Blues’ attack. Photo: Alex Davidson

11. ST: Cole Stockton
The prolific goalscorer proved to be one of the shock performers of the season finishing the campaign as joint third highest in the scoring charts with 23 goals. His impressive form has seen him catch the eye of a number of sides, including Pompey, who are said to be in the running for the striker. Yet, with a new contract tabled at Morecambe, it will be quite unlikely to see the 28-year-old arrive at Fratton Park this summer. Photo: Robbie Stephenson
