‘He talked too much’: Wolves boss blasts John Mousinho as tempers boil over in Portsmouth stalemate

Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto and John Mousinho collided after last night’s Championship clash.

Cesar Peixoto hit out at John Mousinho following their touchline fracas in a fiery Molineux finale.

The Wolves head coach insisted his Pompey counterpart ‘talked too much’, as tempers frayed on the touchline in the 1-1 draw.

Peixoto on Mousinho: ‘He did not play the game, only talked to the referee.'

Mousinho’s men fought back to secure a point through Terry Devlin’s 86th-minute leveller, with an angry collision ensuing following the final whistle.

That’s after a feisty night with exchanges between the two benches taking place throughout the evening, as Pompey made it six points from a possible nine in the Championship.

Mousinho gave his take on events after the game, indicating the Wolves bench should concentrate on their own jobs and ‘stop interfering as he went about his business.

Peixoto stated the Blues head coach ‘did not the play the game’ as he gave his verdict on the incident.

He told the Express & Star: 'I don’t like to talk about these things. I only said to the other coach he talked too much during the game.

'He talked with the fourth official all the time. He did not play the game, only talked to the referee.'

The angst of the home crowd was evident, particularly as Pompey delivered a textbook away display in the first half against the relegated Premier League side.

Peixoto that could be seen in his side’s performance amid the Wolves frustration.

He added: 'I think the players because of the last game stayed more anxious in the game and more secure.

'They did not find the right courage to play in the first 45 minutes.

'At half-time I talked with them and said if something goes wrong, it is my fault, don’t worry about.

'Play free, play with courage, be brave in the game, play our way.

'I think we go better in the second half and scored but in the last minutes we went deep, like I don’t want.

'We needed a win in our home to free of us of this pressure.

'In the first 45 minutes we played too secure and did not take enough risks.

'It was not our way of playing. You have to take risks, to play with courage to go one v one and attack the space.

'At half-time I told them to play with more courage, with more mobility. We made two substitutions and I think we were better.

'In the last few minutes we concede a goal from their first shot on goal.

'I think it is an unfair result but we have to do better in the 45 minutes. We did not play how we normally play.'
