Haji Mnoga handed Portsmouth recall for Gillingham visit

Haji Mnoga is granted his first appearance of 2021 as Pompey entertain Gillingham.

The right-back last featured in the December victory at Cheltenham in the Papa John’s Trophy, a fixture in which he scored.

Yet he has been selected by Kenny Jackett in place of Callum Johnson for this afternoon’s match.

That represents the sole change to the side which triumphed at Oxford United in the week, with Johnson presumably sidelined by injury.

Elsewhere, Jackett retains his centre-half partnership of Sean Raggett and Rasmus Nicolaisen, with Jack Whatmough again on the bench.

Leading scorer John Marquis is once more among the substitutes after being dropped for Tuesday night’s trip to the Kassam Stadium.

Meanwhile, James Bolton and Michael Jacobs continue to be absent through injury, while it was today announced that Alex Bass has joined Southend on an emergency loan.

Pompey: MacGillivray, Mnoga, Raggett, Nicolaisen, Brown, Harness, Naylor, Cannon, White, Curtis, Harrison.

Subs: Ward, Whatmough, Daniels, Williams, Marquis, Hiwula, Byers.
