Former Pompey and QPR midfielder Akos Buzsaky allays fears over welfare after being reported missing
Hungarian authorities launched a search for the former midfielder after he was reported missing last week
Akos Buzsaky appears to have allayed concerns about his safety after being reported missing to Hungarian police this month.
A post has this morning surfaced on the former Pompey and QPR midfielder’s Facebook page thanking everyone for the worry they’ve shown by his ‘break away’ from his daily routines.
The statement says the 44-year-old has been dealing with some ‘serious changes’ to his life that have tested him and forced him to retreat from normal activities.
Yet it was a misunderstanding that led to him being reported missing on August 18.
As soon as he was made aware of the furore his disappearance had caused, he contacted the authorities to reassure them of his safety.
The post on Buzsaky’s Facebook page, which was accompanied by a picture of him, read: ‘Dear friends and acquaintances!
‘Unfortunately, in the past few months, there have been serious changes in my life that have tested me.
‘The dead bodies have been piling up above my head, and there came a moment when I felt I had to break away from these daily routines, due to a misunderstanding, my worried mother pointed me toward the police.
‘Thank you very much for all the concern and thoughts you have shown me.
‘As soon as I learned about the situation, I stopped my retreat and informed the authorities. I wish everyone a very nice day, and it felt really good to receive so much love!’
Buzsaky featured eight times for Pompey during the 2012-13 season while on loan from QPR.
Since his retirement in 2015, the 44-year-old has worked in the construction industry.
