Ex-Portsmouth, Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday-linked boss Paul Cook 'turns down' Cardiff job - reports

Former Pompey boss Paul Cook has turned down the vacant Cardiff job, according to reports.

The south Wales outfit sacked Neil Harris yesterday after six successive defeats, which leaves them 15th in the Championship table.

Cook, who guided the Blues to the League Two title in 2017, has been out of work since July.

The Liverpudlian resigned from Wigan when they were relegated to League One after being hit by a 12-point deduction for entering administraion.

According to talkSPORT, Cardiff offered Cook a six-month deal but he rejected it as he wants something longer term.

Instead, Mick McCarthy looks poised to take the reins at the Bluebirds.

A tweet published on the talkSPORT's official account said: ‘BREAKING: Mick McCarthy is set to be named as the new Cardiff City boss.

‘Paul Cook had been offered a 6-month deal by the club but turned it down as he wants something longer term - talkSPORT understands.’
