However, only three were kept on by the Blues’ head coach, as the rest were forced to look elsewhere for their next career step.
But who were they?
Here are the players who trained with the Fratton Park outfit in pre-season 12-months-ago.

5. Madger Gomes

6. Jay Mingi
The central midfielder’s trial proved successful and was offered a year-long contract at Fratton Park. After a promising loan spell with Maidenhead during the first half of last season he was placed into Pompey’s first-team fold and made two appearances in royal blue. 7. Gassan Ahadme
Another player who was offered a contract with Pompey last summer, Ahadme was kept on-loan by Danny Cowley. However, he failed to match his pre-season form and was sent back to Norwich before he signed for Burton permanently. Picture: Jason Brown Photo: Jason Brown

8. Jayden Reid
The third and final successful trialist last summer, Reid was offered a year-long deal before injury-tragedy struck. The striker endured a season-ending knee injury in a pre-season friendly and has remained on the treatment table since. Danny Cowley will be hoping he becomes an option next term.
