And here are our player ratings...
5. Annie Hutchings - 6
(Replaced by Lily Dent on 61 mins) Attacked well down the right, showing plenty of enthusiasm, yet was walking a tightrope following a booking. Was withdrawn in the aftermath of Southampton’s second goal. Photo: Jason Brown
6. Sophie Quirk - 5
Not seeing the Sophie Quirk of last season, who was such a talismanic presence in the title-winning side. Operated at left wing-back and couldn't sparkle for Blues. Photo: Jason Brown
7. Georgie Freeland - 5
Full of running and effort, having a decent first half, but faded as the match wore on. Photo: Jason Brown
8. Sophie Barker - 6
(Replaced by Annie Rolf on 81 mins) Holds the midfield well, sitting in the middle and providing an important shield, getting through plenty of work. Crucially, her absence may have sparked the late capitulation. Photo: Jason Brown
