First-half goals from Jordan Williams and Kusini Yengi secured a deserved victory for John Mousinho’s men, who really should have added to their tally.
Christian Saydee, in particular, missed some chances after being introduced in the 62nd minute along with eight other substitutes – and here are our Pompey player ratings...
9. Sammy Silvera - 7
(Replaced by Callum Lang on 38 mins) Operated behind Yengi was full of energy and movement, putting the ball into the box for Pompey’s opening goal scored by Williams. Showed some delightful skill at times and was such a shame to see him forced off with a knock after goalkeeper Ryan Hall fouled him. An injury concern. Photo: Portsmouth FC
10. Josh Murphy - 8
(Replaced by Harry Clout on 62 mins) A delight to watch and fans will enjoy him. Wonderful attacking player down the left, albeit not always helped by the final ball and team-mates straying into offside positions. Set up Yengi for his first-half goal. Photo: Portsmouth FC
11. Kusini Yengi - 7
(Replaced by Christian Saydee on 62 mins) Collected Murphy’s pull-back to net Pompey’s second. Hit and miss, failing to keep possession at times, while on other occasions an absolute menace in the box. Just can’t keep him out of the action. Photo: Jason Brown
