The sense of relief that enveloped the Fratton Park faithful was all too evident when the final whistle was blown in Portsmouth’s 2-1 win against fellow Championship strugglers Blackburn Rovers.
For the majority of the 19,562 supporters inside Pompey’s old ground, the result brought some early festive cheer as John Mousinho’s men moved out of the relegation zone ahead of this Saturday’s visit to Derby County.
There is room for improvement on their home patch as the win was only the fourth in 11 league games at Fratton Park - and there is no doubt the home faithful will continue to play their part in the push for survival throughout the festive period and into the second half of the season.
But how does Portsmouth’s average home attendance compare to their rivals across the Championship?
