Championship 2025/26 attendances - where Portsmouth finished vs rivals

How do Pompey’s 2025/26 attendances compare to their Championship rivals?

Pompey’s 2026/27 Championship campaign is almost upon us, with the Blues getting their league season under way with a Fratton Park fixture against QPR on Saturday, August 15.

The division is one of the most enthralling leagues in the world. That’s evidenced by the impressive attendances we continue to see year after year - and this season is expected to be no different.

Once again, the Championship was the second-best-attended second-tier division in world football, with an average of 22,163 fans per match during the 2025/26 season. Only 2. Bundesliga has higher attendances than the Championship.

Coventry led the way last season; the two Sheffield clubs, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday, were inside the top 10, while Pompey were among the top 15.

This August sees the return of West Ham United - who the Blues face tomorrow in the first round of the Carabao Cup at the London Stadium - to the Championship.

Their presence is sure to be felt, although their fans will likely be drowned out by the 9,000 Pompey fans set to descend on the capital for Saturday’s game in east London.

With all of this in mind, let's take a look at last season's Championship attendance table courtesy of Stake.
