Josh Windass’ 11th minute strike settled matters in a game of few opportunities, while Dominic Iorfa was sent off for the visitors in the second half.
It maintains the Owls’ lead at the top of League One, yet there were still a number of encouraging Blues displays – and here are our on-the-whistle player ratings...
5. Conor Shaughnessy - 7
A very comfortable afternoon for the central defender, with little to really challenge him. The only time he looked uncertain was with a couple of uncharacteristically poor passes out from the back. Photo: Graham Hunt
6. Connor Ogilvie - 6
(Replaced by Ebou Adams on 56 mins) A first start since November and understandably looked a little loose at times when in possession from left-back. As ever defended well and will benefit from being handed 56 minutes to ease him back in. Photo: Graham Hunt
7. Zak Swanson - 6
Switched from left-back to the centre of midfield in place of Le Roux, which was pretty damning. Game passed him by in an unfamiliar position, with some silly errors, but later returned to left-back when Ogilvie came off. Photo: Graham Hunt
8. Andre Dozzell - 7
Presented with a new central midfield partner in Swanson, which didn’t quite click. Then it was a first glimpse of him with new-boy Adams, which looked far more fluent. Mobile, neat and tidy, kept things ticking over satisfactorily, Photo: Graham Hunt
