2026-27 Championship promotion odds: Where Portsmouth, West Ham, Birmingham, Cardiff & Co sit

Pompey will be competing in the Championship for a third successive season from August, but what are the odds on them returning to the Premier League next May?

The dust has just about settled on the Championship’s 2025-26 season.

And with the 2026-27 campaign still two months away, there remains plenty of time for clubs, including Pompey, to get their houses in order to do it all over again!

Yet fans are already turning their attentions to what next season holds for their sides, despite the transfer window not officially opening until June 15.

Indeed, the early runners and riders for promotion to the Premier League are emerging, with the latest bookies’ odds reflecting how supporters of all codes see next season developing.

It’s no surprise to see the three teams who dropped back down to the Championship from the top fliight - West Ham, Wolves and Burnley - are the favourites to claim promotion and return to the promised land of the Premier League.

But with next season’s play-off positions extended to teams finishing eighth in the table, there’ll be a lot more to play for and more clubs than ever fancying their chances of upsetting the odds.

This week Pompey, who will be looking to strengthen during the transfer window and go to the next level under John Mousinho, announced two more pre-season friendlies as their preparations for the new campaign begin to take shape.

The Blues will also travel to Germany for a game to ensure Mousinho’s side are in tip-top shape for whatever the 2026-27 campaign throws at them.

Yet while we wait to learn the opposition and date of that game, here’s how Pompey sit in the latest Championship promotion odds provided by SkyBet.
