Danny Cowley is keen to bolster his options at the top end of the pitch during his Blues overhaul.
As things stand, Pompey have only two number nines under contract for the upcoming 2021-22 season in John Marquis and Ellis Harrison.
Jordy Hiwula was released at the end of his contract, having scored three goals in 15 appearances.
It's understood Cowley ideally would like to bring a target man to PO4 who can play alongside Marquis.
Joe Pigott’s one forward who is on Pompey’s shopping list after confirming his departure from AFC Wimbledon.
However, the Blues are braced to miss out on the man who plundered 22 goals this season, with Championship clubs interested.
But who else could Pompey look to target?
We’ve taken a look at who might fit the bill. Scroll down and click through the pages to see who’s on the list...

5. Vadaine Oliver - Gillingham
The ex-Northampton man enjoyed a fine season at Gillingham. He scored 20 goals in all competitions and was the top-ranked player in League One, according to WhoScored stats. He's a big presence up front but has a year left on his deal so would command a fee and wouldn't have any resale value aged 29. The Gills may also be reluctant to let Oliver leave. 6. Kyle Hudlin - Solihull Moors
Towering at 6ft 9inch, Hudlin is supposedly the tallest outffield professional player in Britain. The 20-year-old notched 10 goals in 37 outings for National League Solihull this season. He'd certainly have resale value but Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday are all reportedly keen. Photo: Alex Livesey

7. Gary Madine - Blackpool
The former Cardiff man hit eight goals in 29 games as the Seasiders claimed promotion via the League One play-offs. Madine is out of contract although Blackpool have yet to announced their retained list. At 6ft 4inch, he'd offer a focal point and has plenty of experience aged 30. Photo: Alex Burstow

8. Mikael Mandron - Crewe
At 6ft 3inch, the Frenchman would certainly offer a presence up front. Mandron notched 14 goals in 45 games for Alexandra this season, finishing as top scorer. However, the ex-Sunderland man signed a new deal to stay at Gresty Road until June 2022 in February saying he'd settled at the club. Would command a fee. Photo: Gareth Copley
