Covid-19 concerns force Moneyfields and Barnstaple Town call off

Moneyfields' meeting with Barnstaple has been postponed because of Covid-19 concerns.

Moneys were due to be hosting the Barum at Dover Road tomorrow in their final fixture prior to the nationwide lockdown which comes into force on Thursday.

A Southern League email sent to clubs today stated that midweek would only go ahead if both teams agreed.

However, in this case it appears Barnstaple were not willing to make the trip with coronavirus fears within their squad.

They also opted against travel to Winchester City on Saturday because of Covid-19 concerns.

Barnstaple took that decision due to Cinderford - Winchester's opponents last midweek - having members of their squad test positive for coronavirus.

Moneyfields are now facing more than a month at least before they return to playing action.

The government confirmed that all non-elite football - step three level and below - must be suspended during the UK throughout the month-long lockdown from Thursday.
